"THE
PILATES METHOD"
What
is Pilates? Pilates promotes good posture through breathing, proper
muscle use and coordination, building core strength and flexibility
through the use of resistance- based equipment developed by Joseph
Pilates in the early 1900's.
Pilates re-educates and promotes a process that truly enhances the
mind/ body connection. Joseph Pilates promised that in "10 sessions
you'll feel the difference, in 20 you'll see the difference, and
in 30 you'll have a new body".
Benefits
of Pilates conditioning include:
-
Relaxation and stress reduction
-
Strengthening of abdominal and back muscles to support the spine
and protect the low back
-
Strengthen bones and improved circulation
-
Improve posture and stability
-
Better coordination and balance
-
Prevention of body pain and limitations associated with normal
aging
"Pilates is a movement technique as well as a lifelong learning process of
training your body with an expectation toward health and wellness."

Annika Dahl
Annika has nine years of experience in Pilates. She was introduced to Pilates in 1999 while working as an assistant in a Physical Therapy clinic. Then, she became certified in Pilates from Polestar in 2000 and from Stott (New York City) in 2002. She has lived in Tahoe for the last 18 years. Growing up between Tahoe and the Bay Area she became an avid sports enthusiast, involved in: snow skiing, snowboarding, water skiing, wakeboarding, golfing, climbing, biking, running, skydiving, and many more. Working side by side for seven years, with Ladd Williams PT., a local physical therapist she learned how the body functions and many valuable tools for helping and training people. She takes her knowledge of sports, physical therapy, and personal injury experience to build her Pilates practice. Introducing many different props and exercises she keeps the workouts challenging and different every day. By taking an invigorating approach she creates a fun fitness environment. Enjoying a healthy lifestyle, and teaching people how to become more aware and in touch with their bodies is why she pursues a career in Pilates.
